Nice building, no quality control

January 15, 2023The set includes a nice variety of colors for the buildings and includes only prints. Especially the window art with transparent color bricks looks incredible. The indoor walls should have received more detailing and some guests in the Jazz Club would have made the scene more lively. I would have expected at least 2-3 guests and a waiter or a door man or someone behind the ticket counter. The light yellow bricks and the light yellow plates have a different coloring to the point where it is very visible. There is not much going on in the back of the building, it is very bland but the big windows allow a view into the rooms, which is nice. A backstage entrance would have been nice with a sign going along with it, maybe some dumpsters, instead of only a door with no markings.
The building experience was a little boring. There were no interesting building techniques or very unique ways to build certain items. The set is built in no time.
I like the building as it has a nice facade, especially the blue entrance of the Jazz Club sticks out for me, but the worst part of it all is that there was no quality control. The bricks for building step 331 and following are not in the bag/s associated with the building step and after a long search I realized that some of those bricks are in the bag of the next building step a few pages later. But in the end, again bricks were missing and after having built the set the facade shows gaps due to missing corner and regular plates. It is a shame to have to wait again two+ weeks before I actually have a finished set (if my request for the missing items will be approved) - in one year of having bought dozens of LEGO sets only one set (42136) had all parts in it. It's not the building experience long-time LEGO customers like me are looking for. The growth LEGO has experienced since 2020 is not managed well and comes at the cost of low quality with a lack of motivation to solve the known issues. At least that is what I experience.
Overall disappointed.

January 17, 2024After completing several Lego builds, I did not hesitate to spend the money on the Jazz Club. However, I was very disappointed with the design of this building, the instructions and the missing parts, especially for the price. Disappointed design: The interior of the building isn't visible at completion of the Jazz Club. Disappointed Instructions: Parts for completing Instructions of bag 12 were in bag 13. I rebuilt bag 11 and 12 until I figured that out. Disappointed Missing Parts: I had to constantly borrow parts from other builds. I've requested replacing 3 missing parts but could have requested more. One missing part was a door! Very disappointed with this pricey Lego kit. Glad it wasn't my first kit or I'd have never bought another one.
2 Positives: The exterior building looks nice when completed. And, I liked not having to put stickers on anything.
Definitely one of the better building sets

November 12, 2024This set is great, The build is super straight forward, The instructions clear up any confusions you could have about the design. The building is huge too, Its way bigger than the lego idea botanical garden, and it costs less too. Honestly you gotta laugh the audacity of the lego ideas botanical garden designer, there's so many large buildings in lego, and you expect me to buy yours just because you but the building on two baseplates. Like you ain't fooling anybody, thats not a botanical garden thats a greenhouse. You get a lot of cool parts with this set, and its set up integrate quite easily with your lego city. Its gorgeous honestly, if you're on the fence, you can't go wrong with this one. 10/10 another banger from the Lego Group.
Fun, with unique elements; lacks quality control

May 27, 2023This is the second modular building I have purchased and built, the first being Assembly Square. That one was obviously a league of its own, but I am glad I followed up with the Jazz Club. I did appreciate the special architectural flourishes, such as the attention to detail on the façade and rooftop. The small greenhouse is really cute too. I liked the 45-degree angles on the first and second floor; I really wasn't expecting something like that, but it was executed rather well and added a special depth to the build. The minifigures are also unique and fun, especially the musician that can carry the bass guitar case on his back.
Like many others, I too had missing pieces from bag 12 for the final two steps that ended up being in bag 13. Unfortunately, I did not check the next bag and requested the missing pieces online. They arrived almost two weeks later, and then I finally was able to continue building. Given that this is a premium product at a premium price from a premium brand, this is unacceptable. C'mon Lego, it is clear so many people are having this problem, so why not indicate that somewhere? If someone is ordering those specific pieces, why not tell them to just check the next bag? It was such a bummer to wait two weeks to finish the build and then realize I didn't even need to wait; the pieces were there the whole time.
