FRANK WARREN COLUMN: Eubank Jnr v Quinlan is not what boxing is supposed to be about

CHRIS EUBANK JNR claimed he is training himself for tonight’s fight with Renold Quinlan.

That’s something to think about before you part with your hard-earned cash.

This is just a workout for the Brighton boxer and the fact he can – if he was being truthful when he said it - train himself tells you all you need to know.

I am not being disrespectful to Quinlan, I’m being disrespectful to the promotion and the match making.

He is a boxer who has had 11 fights, and lost one, and we were lining up to face eight-fight prospect Vijender Singh.

This fight for the little valued IBO super-middleweight title is being served up as pay-per-view.

You would not get Chelsea playing Exeter City on pay-per-view, would you? That is what this is.

I am really critical on this and people may react, but it’s because I love the fact there is more boxing on TV, the sport is in vogue and it is good for everybody involved.

It is great that it is on ITV, even if it is on pay-per-view, but, as someone involved in the sport, this fight is not a great advert for our industry.
