  • My invention relates to improvement in that class of topical remedies used as salves, and is intended for use in cases of tetter or other skin diseases by external application. It is composed of the following ingredients and the proportions stated, by weight, namely: Venice turpentine, two parts; spirits turpentine, two parts; hogs lard, two parts; red precipitate, one part; extract of elephantopus tom entosus, (commonly known as elephantsfoot,) two parts. These ingredients are mixed at an ordinary temperature.
  • This composition is applied to the diseased parts of the skin in the usual manner of applying external remedies.

TETTER-SALVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 438,636, dated October 21, 1890.
Application filed July 14, 1890. Serial No. 858,750. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS J. NEWBERY,
-ful Improvementsin Medicinal Compounds;
and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvement in that class of topical remedies used as salves, and is intended for use in cases of tetter or other skin diseases by external application. It is composed of the following ingredients and the proportions stated, by weight, namely: Venice turpentine, two parts; spirits turpentine, two parts; hogs lard, two parts; red precipitate, one part; extract of elephantopus tom entosus, (commonly known as elephantsfoot,) two parts. These ingredients are mixed at an ordinary temperature.
This composition is applied to the diseased parts of the skin in the usual manner of applying external remedies.
What I claim to be new, and desire to se cure by Letters Patent, is
The herein-described medical compound for the cure of skin diseases, the same consisting of Venice turpentine, spirits of turpentine,
hogs lard, the extract of elephantopus tome-ntosus, and red precipitate, in substantially the proportions specified.
